Kids

IMG 4641

Kids are so important in the life of our church and community. That means we have lots of fun, make lots of mess, and spent time helping our young heroes grow.

You can check our Sunday Service page to see how our tots, kids and youth run when we gather for worship and community. We have special programs and all-in services so that our young people can make friends with people their age, and so that we can enjoy being a diverse and multi-generational church together.

We also run Holiday ClubsFamily Fun Days and seasonal events for kids and families, as well as running the following regular programs during term time:
  • Babba Club toddlers stay and play with toys, crafts and songs, ?every Wednesdays and Fridays 10am-12noon.
  • Kids Cafe drop in session for snacks, homework help and games Wednesdays 3:30-5:30pm
  • Messy Church at Frith Manor School on Millbrook Park Thursdays 4-5:30pm
  • Urban Saints Kids games, crafts, songs and Bible stories Fridays 5-6pm
  • WAVE church inclusive church for all ages and abilities, with Makaton worship and creative learning last Sunday of every month, 5-6pm
All of our staff and volunteers who lead the teaching and creative fun have had training to keep children and young people safe.
This includes DBS checks, safeguarding training, and an application process for becoming a kids leader.

If you have any questions about the programmes or want to know more about bringing your kids along on a Sunday then please fill in our Contact Us form.
Hello and welcome to our church. If you are a new visitor, we have a page for you to get to know us and learn more about planning a visit.

Planning your Visit

Welcome

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service starting at 11:00am. There is plenty of free parking available on street or at our car park, or we're right next to the Salcombe Gardens bus stop on the 221. You can come a little earlier to get a free coffee and pastry, and to meet some of our welcome team.

Accessibility: There is wheelchair access via our car park entrance on Pursley Road, or via the community garden on Salcombe Gardens. Please let one of the Welcome Team know on your arrival and they will help you to get set up. There are disabled toilets in the main foyer.

Our Service

The main service begins at 11am with a warm welcome from one of our team members. Then follows a time of sung worship, led by our band. We typically have 3 or 4 songs lasting approximately 20 minutes. We will spend time praying together, listening to what God might be saying.  This might seem strange the first time you hear it but it’s all part of our connecting with God. We then share news and notices, usually about what’s going on in the life of the church. We then have a talk, looking at what faith and following Jesus looks like today. We then finish with a time of worshipping and responding to God.

Growing together

We have a great programme lined up for kids  and youth. During term time we have Tots church (2-4s) and Kids church (4-11s) where our kids can make friends and explore faith through stories, songs and creative fun. This runs through all the service most of the time, apart from where we share Family Communion or have All Age Worship.  We're a pretty relaxed and messy church, so babies and younger kids can make themselves at home in the soft play during the service.

Our Youth Church (11-16s) runs after the worship, and involves lots of snacks, games and discussion. We have an active Young Adults Group as part of our small groups, and activities for Seniors and everything in-between, so there is space for everyone to make friends and grow together.

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends and grow together. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
